Supporting local communities
Auswide Bank supports grass roots initiatives in local communities by developing and maintaining strong relationships and investments that contribute to the community. This is achieved by developing and supporting vulnerable community members with access to suitable and affordable financial services through:
- Regional community programs assisted by our branch network
- Workplace giving
- Disaster relief support
In line with our community-focused ethos, we run a number of own own events and activities that raise money for charity or support cultural activities in our community. Our sponsorship program is not about generating a commercial return, it is about being authentic in our aim to give a helping hand where it is needed.
Supporting sporting superstar, Meg Harris
We're partnering with Project32 and through them, supporting sporting superstar, Meg Harris, as she follows her Olympic dream.
Through Project32, an athlete and partnership development program, we’ll be sponsoring freestyle swimmer, Meg Harris, who made her debut at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo where she won gold in the Women’s 4 x 100m freestyle relay – even beating the world record time.
Our sponsorship of Meg will give her the essential financial support she needs to focus on her sporting career and athletic development as she continues to chase her Olympic dreams.
We’ll also be supporting Meg through professional mentorship and coaching as she continues her nursing degree, preparing for a career after swimming.
Baking a difference at Ronald McDonald House Charities
Across 2024, the Auswide Bank team have committed to supporting the kids and families staying at the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Brisbane.
When families spend long emotional days in hospital, their next meal is often the last thing on their mind. Our team, will be visiting RMHC a number of times across the year to prepare a spread of sweet and savoury goods for those families staying in the facility, many who had travelled from all over Queensland to receive treatment.
Following the success of our 2023 Christmas Toy Drive, we will this year again be collecting toys and donations to ensure children who will be away from home over Christmas will receive a gift, along with any siblings also staying at the Ronald McDonald House during this time.
Busy Bees with Queensland Cancer Council
We love getting our hands dirty, especially when it's for a great cause like the Queensland Cancer Council. Over the past few years, including earlier in 2024, our team visited the Charles Wanstall Apex Lodge in Brisbane to lend a helping hand.
Pulling on their boots and rubbing on the sunscreen, the Auswide Bank team spent time pulling weeds, power-washing pathways and sanding outdoor furniture to keep the facilities clean and tidy for those travelling to access cancer treatment and using the lodge as their home away from home.
