Confirmation of Payee is a new industry-wide security check designed to reduce the risk of mistaken payments and scams.
How it works
Confirmation of Payee (CoP) checks that the account owner name matches the account number and BSB of the person or business you’re paying, before you send money, so you can have more confidence when making payments online.

Soon, some banks will use Confirmation of Payee when their customers send you money. To avoid delays, make sure you share your correct account name, along with your BSB and account number.
- Find your account name in internet banking, the mobile banking app or on your statement (via internet banking or if you receive paper statements).
- To reflect this change, we’re updating our Electronic Banking Terms and Conditions to include information on how we handle your data.
Making Payments? CoP is coming to Auswide Bank customers soon.
Later in 2025, CoP will be available in our mobile banking app and internet banking. It helps you confirm payment details before sending money and applies when you set up a new payee, update an existing payee, or make a one-off payment.
You’ll see the match outcome before deciding whether to proceed. If something doesn’t look right, double check with the person you’re paying before continuing.
Can I Opt Out?
Yes. In some circumstances, eligible customers can opt out of having their account name displayed in Confirmation of Payee match results. However, this may make it harder for people to confirm your details before making a payment.
